Efficient & Sustainable Desalination in the Canary Islands: Get access to abundant water.
The Canary Islands are a beautiful archipelago, home to many famous tourist destinations. The Canaries’ economy is boosted by tourism, with hotels and lodges being spread across nearly all of the islands. At any remote location that receives limited rainfall, water scarcity is a big issue. Often, hotels are either charged with high water bills or are forced to transport water using trucks, which is an expensive exercise.

Independent water for generations to come.
Commissioned desalination projects in the region:

‘’A special thanks to Elemental Water Makers who joined forces with Lanzarote Retreats to achieve their sustainability goals. The Dutch team made it possible for our eco-village to become independent on water. We are naturally powering the desalination unit by harnessing the wind & sun.
I hope Elemental Water Makers will continue to encourage the rest of the world to do the same.’’

Cape Verde faces water scarcity because of limited natural water resources available. Desalination technology accounts for over 90% of the fresh water supply. Because desalination is very energy intensive, water is not affordable. Water tariffs are even a higher burden in remote villages, where water has to be trucked to. EWM is working in Salamansa, Sao Vicente to show that reliable water can be produced at low costs in these villages, without requiring any investment. Using Award-winning proprietary desalination technology to turn seawater into high-quality fresh water, using only the abundant sunshine.

“Hum’AM is an humanitarian association of engineering students. Our purpose is to improve people’s lifespan in underprivileged regions by providing access to drinkable water as well as electricity. The Senegalese community Ourong has a groundwater table is polluted with salted water. We decided to use the location of the village to our advantage by proposing the implementation of a desalination plant. We were searching for a solution that can provide affordable fresh water by using solar energy. Elemental Water Makers succesfully helped us to achieve this goal.
Today more than 600 villagers benefit from this project. The engineers who made their way on-site to the community during COVID-19, Reinoud & Nathan, were a competent and supportive team. It was a real pleasure to work with them.
Thank you Elemental Water Makers!”
