Scenic resort using Efficient Desalination.

All coastal resorts on the Virgin Islands are quite familiar with desalination. Given the British Virgin Islands’ limited fresh water reserves and rainfall, there is no other way to get access to sufficient fresh water. Unfortunately, often traditional desalination is being utilized, leading to unnecessarily high energy bills for the reverse osmosis unit.

By utilizing energy recovery technology on any scale between 1,000 – 250,000 gallons per day, energy savings up to 70% can be made. With energy prices soaring as high as 0.3 $/kWh and traditional seawater desalination using around 30 kWh/kgal, it’s possible to save 6 $ per 1,000 gallons alone on energy.
